Scoop carpool credit – Free 2 Rides!

Scoop carpool creditAs mentioned, new Scoop riders get free 2 rides when they sign up using somebody’s referral code. You may use my referral code of Scoop to get your reward bonus. When you take your first ride, I will also get a free ride. It is a win-win for both of us.

What is Scoop anyway?

Scoop is an awesome carpool app that offers very affordable scheduled rides on your morning-evening commute to work as well as in colleges and universities. How is it different from Uber and Lyft? Well, Uber and Lyft are on-demand ride sharing businesses. Scoop is on a different playing field. It is trying to reduce the amount of cars on the road during rush hours by matching commuters without cars with those who drive everyday. The riders pay a fraction of the cost of what Uber/Lyft would charge. The drivers get access to the carpool lane PLUS they get paid by Scoop for picking up riders. Both the driver and riders get to their destination efficiently.

From their own website …

ridesharing appsScoop is an app that automatically matches nearby commuters into quick, efficient carpools they love. Riders and Drivers share commute costs with all transactions occurring directly in the app. If you prefer to drive a carpool, you will receive a reimbursement for each trip. If you would rather ride along in a carpool, you’ll share the commute costs with the Driver. Whichever mode you choose, you’ll have the opportunity to meet new people, have more energy every day, and make the most of your time. When you carpool with Scoop in the morning, we’ll even guarantee your ride home!

Founded by Rob and Jon Sadow in 2015, our team mixes technology and elbow grease every day, with one statistic in our crosshairs: 80% of Americans drive alone to work, wasting valuable minutes every morning. A big problem? Sure, but we know we can crack it through our talents, partnerships, and the Scoop Community that’s already exploding.

To find out whether Scoop is available in your city, you’d have to install the app and find out! They are already in most of the cities that suffer rush hour nightmares. Chances are there is a Scoop driver and rider around your house.

Generally I have found that Scoop has amazing carpool review. They are also offering promo code where you can sign up using my referral code ANIK4W3 and get 2 free carpool rides. Likewise once you are a valid customer, you can also share your promo code among your friends. When they use Scoop and sign up with your referral code, you will be getting 2 free rides AND your friends who use your referral code will also get 2 free rides.

Is Scoop safe? Yes! Scoop takes its carpool safety seriously. They provide a trusted network of co-workers and neighbors to share commute with. Every time someone signs up as a driver on Scoop, they run a motor vehicle history check before approving the account. Just like Uber, they also have users feedback after every trip. The feedback is used to make better rider-driver matches.

I have tried Scoop rideshare in Seattle and it is good! Let me go in detail about the app.

In short, here’s what you need to know about using Scoop. Riders have to submit morning ride requests by 9pm and evening ride request by 3pm. Within 5 minutes after the deadline, riders are matched with drivers and both party is notified. The app tracks user’s location and displays on the map. Riders and drivers meet up on the way, access carpool lane and reach their destinations.

#1 Install, Sign up, Check driver availability

Once you sign up on Scoop, you can enter your home and work address. Based on that, it will show you a map of all the riders and drivers around you. It might look something like this:

#2 Schedule your carpool ride

Goto Trips. Pick the time slot you want to schedule for – morning or evening. Everything is intuitive but I will leave these screenshots as a guideline.

#3 Wait for driver-rider match

After the time for booking rides is up, the algorithm will match you with a respective rider or driver. On my phone the wait process looked like this. I got matched to a driver within seconds!

Scoop driver match

#4 Take the ride!

That’s it. By this point Scoop just becomes Uber. You wait for the driver carpooler to pick you up. Everybody shares the commute and gets to their destination in time. Locations are tracked on the map. Payments are deducted and credited through the app. It is seamless, literally.

You can watch the driver on the map as they come to pick you up! The app is going to improve as it acquires more and more users. It is amazing already!

Scoop Guaranteed Ride Home

What more? Sometimes if for reasons unknown drivers cancel the ride, riders can get matched to backup drivers from the shortlist. If that does not happen, Scoop gives you $50 per month in reimbursement because they have what is called Guaranteed Ride Home program. If you are not matched to any drivers within 30 mins, you can take public bus, train, Uber pool, Express pool or Lyft line. Just show the receipt to Scoop and get your money back credited to your account. The limit is $50 per month. I like the ride back guarantee a lot. This just increases the value that Scoop is bringing to the table.

In conclusion, I think Scoop is a great way to commute to work and get back home. It is slightly complicated than hailing an on-demand Uber or Lyft but hey, it is way lot cheaper and much better than public bus. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. If you decide to use Scoop, install the app and apply my referral promo code ANIK4W3 in order to get 2 free rides!
